Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg are Engaged

On New Year’s Eve, the world got a good, long look at the love of New Year’s Rockin’ Eve co-host Jenny McCarthy and her boyfriend, New Kids on the Block singer Donnie Wahlberg. They kissed and cuddled from midnight on and we could tell they were seriously in love. They just decided to make it even more serious.

McCarthy announced on Wednesday’s episode of The View that she is engaged to Wahlberg, 44.

“I just got engaged!” McCarthy, 41, gushed to her costars. The actress showed off her “yellow sapphire” engagement ring and discussed details from the proposal. McCarthy shared how her 11-year-old son Evan helped with the surprise proposal, which took place last weekend.

Wahlberg, who is also an actor on the CBS show Blue Bloods, visited the talk show Wednesday. No surprise, he affectionately kissed his new fiancé as he reminisced about the proposal. As far as a wedding date, McCarthy told co-host Barbara Walters, “We don’t know yet,” adding that they were considering getting married in August, 2015.

The duo were revealed as a couple in July 2013, and it was McCarthy’s first love since breaking up with her boyfriend of five years, actor and comedian Jim Carrey. “I told the universe I’m ready for love. I said bring the one. I’m not doing any more auditions,” she told talk show host Bethenny Frankel last November. “I think he would be an amazing husband!” McCarthy told Frankel at the time. “So, if he does [propose] yeah, I would sure say yes. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was the one proposing!”

This is the second marriage for both McCarthy and Wahlberg. She was married to actor and director John Mallory Asher, and they had son Evan together. Wahlberg is also a parent, sharing two sons with ex-wife Kim Fey. Wahlberg is the older brother of actor Mark Wahlberg.
