Naughty Boy and Joe Jonas team up for 'One Chance To Dance'

Publish date: 2024-05-27

Naughty Boy is back on the scene with his brand new single ‘One Chance to Dance’, which sees him team up with DNCE frontman Joe Jonas.

‘One Chance To Dance’ is a mid-tempo veena-led track which is guaranteed to make you move your feet. The track is a feel-good offering which emphasises Joe’s dulcet tones whilst he asks for the opportunity to showcase his moves.

“I’m no professional dancer / Baby, give me your answer / I’ll practice every day / Don’t care what record plays / When I dance with you”

The song also pays homage to Michael Jackson, with Joe recognising that he might not have the King of Pop’s moves but he deserves a chance to show off his nifty footwork.

“I ain’t no Michael Jackson but give me one chance, one chance to dance.”

‘One Chance To Dance’ might not have the same immediate impact as some of Naughty Boy’s previous material, however, the track is infectious in its own way, and is ultimately very charming.

Speaking to The Daily Star about the song, Naughty Boy said: “I had the tune just sitting there for about a year. I knew I wanted to do something with it for my new album but I just wasn’t sure exactly what at the time.”

It turns out that Naughty Boy’s love for DNCE’s debut single inspired the choice of singer for the collaboration. He said: “I’m a big fan of (DNCE Song) Cake by The Ocean and when the guys were in town I met Joe, he came in the studio and we just vibed on the tune.”

“It was inspired by Michael Jackson songs but it’s about not being as good as Michael Jackson,” he added. “I was thinking about his songs and a new pop tune that would reflect that era of music and that’s why it has a sort of old school sound to it.”

It was recently announced that Naughty Boy is working on a Motown album. Keen to introduce the incredible genre of music to the younger generation, he will be teaming up with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Laura Mvula to rework some classic Motown hits.
